ANCHORED (In Memory of my Bro and Friend Pastor James T. Madry Jr.)

I have a message for the one who is having trouble resting lately. You may have several things on your mind or just one major concern that just won’t allow you to feel settled. For some reason an old song rings in my head today and I believe that it is one of the motivators for today’s nugget. I often have seen my life as me being on a vessel on the seas. I have had my shares of storms and rain. Some violently pushed me into places of near death and destruction. Others though violent didn’t move me a bit. As I recall such times, my destination was so much based upon my faith or lack of it in God. I love to fish. Been on a few boats. All of them had anchors on them. Most of the anchors were designed with hooks on them. The hooks would dig into the bottom of the lake or pond. They could even grab ahold of big rocks. This kept the boat from being pushed all over the place when the winds blew or the waves came crashing in. We being living vessels also need to be anchored solidly or we will find ourselves being blown all over the place when storms approach. So many of us find ourselves tossed by differing belies and doubts (unbeliefs) read Ephesians 4:14 and James 1:6.. As I recalled my stable moments in life. The times in which I look back on and seeing myself sure footed, I was anchored in faith in God. Being anchored by faith in God, anchors the soul and keeps us from drifting away and being dragged into so many messy situations. We find ourselves, even in the midst of storms being able to rest. I sing the old song today, “My soul is anchored in the Lord.” Are you drifting or are you anchored? Storms are coming… Winds will blow… Are you anchored in faith?

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming

James 1:6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind
