Wise Words

I have been in the book of Proverbs…. Just chillin in the front portion.. It dealt a lot with the topic of wisdom. I want to encourage my readers of this nugget to pursue it with diligence. Pursue it in every facet of your life. Wisdom teaches us to depend upon God and encourages us to develop a godly character. A character so strong that it shows in everything we do and say. It leads to living a life of freedom and skillful living. Without wisdom, one makes foolish decisions and instead of leaning on God and HIS ways, they become self centered, vulnerable to the schemes of this world’s system. They will fall for anything… Wisdom is a gem that I’d consider more precious than any diamond or metal of value. Through wisdom, we become skilled workmen.. Masters of our crafts. The things that God has blessed us to be able to do. I had a recent conversation with my daughter about some of the things that I would do before every game I played. I mentioned how a friend of mine, Eddie Smith and I would find a prayer spot and go to our separate corners and give God uninterrupted time. No one there but us and God. I told her of the times even when on the court where I felt at a loss and I’d whisper, “God help me..” I was basically reinforcing the scripture which tells us to acknowledge God in ALL of our ways.. When we do, HE provides confidence and direction… We can never get caught up in folks calling our names out or tooting our horns. Wisdom comes from whole-heartedly trusting God over ourselves or those placed around us. If you lack wisdom, you will prove to be one filled with arrogance and autonomy. That is a recipe for failure and destruction. At your leisure, read the first 3 books of Proverbs… Ask God to grant you wisdom. It’s a precious gift.
