I often tell my young folks of one of my missions when it comes to them. I want to make sure that they never struggle with their identities. If we don’t know who we are, folks will easily be able to persuade us into being who they want us to be. Situation and circumstance will dictate who we become. Failures will dictate who we are. I don’t want my folks to feel that they must find their identities in Money, civic organizations and deeds that are not godly. I do must best to paint the picture with scripture to allow them to see themselves as God has intended. I always say the same thing to my young folks as they leave for college, military or a now location outside of where we currently live. I say “Don’t forget who you are.” I leave it at that. Going to college, so many of them temporarily lose thier minds and just forget all that was taught them. Some of them enter the military and temporarily go BUCK WILD! Now I sometimes reiterate it to them when I see their Facebook pages or evidence of them living a lifestyle outside of what God has intended "Don't forget who you are." I want to challenge the reader today who is or has been struggling with their TRUE God given identity. You must stop living in that state of spiritual amnesia. The many things that are happening in your life are to further mold you into the awesome vessel that God desires. Just because things may be tough, it doesn’t mean that it is impossible. The scriptures say that we can do all things through Christ. Never said that it would be easy. Now let me help you with your identity. If you are in Christ, stop letting people talk you into believing that you are the same jacked up individual that you were prior to being in Christ. There was a song that we use to sing and the lyrics were simple. “ If anybody asks you who I am.. Who I am.. Who I am.. Tell them I’m a child of God.” Let me help you out. When in Christ, you are called sons of God (Read Galatians 3), New creatures or creations(2 Corinthians 5), children of God and heirs of God(Romans 8). You are not like the ordinary Joe/Jane. That is why we bring light and salt to the game of life.
