Blink

I was in a conversation with a guy at work some time back. He told me about a feud that he had with his older brother which had lasted for 6 years. A couple of days later he got word that his Brother who lived overseas was killed in a car accident. He told me of how so many times he wanted to call and say that he was sorry or to act as if nothing ever happened but he just couldn't bring himself to doing it. He used the saying "Wow, here today, gone tomorrow". We began to speak on the brevity of life in itself. I mentioned to him that how in a short span of time I said goodbye to my mother, great grandfather, great uncle, great grandmother and grandmother.. All in such a short time. My mother took me by total surprise..Never saw it coming.. I decided to go to the word just to show that what he said was so true.. Here today, gone tomorrow..He is a dedicated parishioner at his church and reads his bible often he says. I was led to mention that life changes in each millisecond. So many times we take for granted that everything will stay the same for at least a minute. Well I took him to the scripture which explains the second coming of Christ. The Word says that this will all go down in a twinkling of an eye. I see this as I must be ready now. Not in two minutes but now. Someone reading this, ask yourself, do you really want to be ready? Are you willing to roll the dice and take the chance that your next hour is a sure thing? Do me a favor as you read this.....BLINK.... Think, time could have been up for you, just that fast... are you willing to keep taking such a gamble with your life.  That someone that you need to share a word of love with, may not be around tomorrow. Your sibling or parent may not make it to the next hour. That friend who you never made up with or told them that you love them may not be around for you to swallow your pride or get over yourself. If you are sorry, say it. If you love them, tell them. If you didn't mean it, tell them.. BLINK.. It could have been over already... Fix it now..

Today's nugget came from 1 Corinthians 15:52... In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

So many of us have heard this at funerals and we still didn't get it. My fellow worker possibly had to hear that again at his brothers homegoing.
