I was sitting humming one of my favorites, “Falling In Love With Jesus” and was reminded of a blues song which says if you love me like you say, why you do me like you do… So many of us think that because we fall in love with doing different areas of Christian service, that it means that we love Jesus. Not so. I was reading the scripture where Jesus asked Simon Peter, if he loved him. He said if you love me, feed my sheep. Devoting to Christ means that you love his sheep. Not just the ones that have shown you love. We think that because we love service it means we love HIM. IF you only love the service and not truly love Christ, burn out will eventually come and your true desire to serve will weaken. You may continue to serve but you will want to pick and choose who you serve. If you truly love Jesus, you can serve folks even when they treat you like dirt. So instead of being so devoted to your causes, try being more devoted to HIM. If you love him, you’ll love and feed HIS sheep unconditionally. It’ll pay off. See I won’t trip because I understand that even though they cut me down like wheat and consider me dead, I will produce a crop that will yet grow and change the world.
