I was watching a Touched by an Angel episode a while back and it was teaching about how a negative or bad attitude has the ability to wreck a community. It was a powerful message! It can wreck a home, a church, a ministry, a team.. The times that I have fallen to that trick of the enemy…. Early this morning, I was led to a familiar scripture and it has truly ministered to me. It created yet a new fire inside of me. I recalled the book of Numbers. Do you remember when Moses sent out the 12 spies to Canaan to get a look at the Promised Land? 10 of the 12 spies came back with negative reports. This attitude was picked up and accepted by over a million other Israelites. They were so negative that they wanted to stone the two spies who came back with positive reports and attitudes. The bad attitude of the 10 spies caused God to unleash HIS wrath upon them and the millions of unbelievers. Let me put out a strong word this morning… Don’t pick up any bad attitudes… They are extremely contagious.. They are extremely deadly… Stay away from negative people and negative thoughts.. When folks try to fill your head with negative or angry thoughts, resist by all means necessary. Don’t let negative church folk, talk you out of getting to Jesus with their religious mindsets. I shared with my daughter Alicia, that receiving messages from folks is like eating fish. You have to slowly go through it. Remove the bones and eat the meat of conversations. If she were to get caught up in the bony stuff, she could find herself choking and dying. I am attempting to teach my kids that godly people are not negative but serve as purifiers. They have healthy attitudes.. Not gloom and doom people at all. That is because they realize that God has the final say in everything and HE always has our best interest in mind. We cannot get caught up in negative thoughts, words and feelings.. And when receiving reports, we know better than receiving the negative ones.. People with negative attitudes point you to disaster.. Their words are deceiving. Now folks with positive attitudes (the purifiers) have the ability to be in a rotten atmosphere and make everything around them better.. Purifiers have the ability to take in the toxic things that negative people (let me call them polluters) say and filter them before they respond or pass along to others. Positive people (Purifiers) may go into a dark situation or place, but when they leave, that atmosphere becomes fresh and clean. Polluters receive what they put out… doom and gloom (read Numbers 14:36-37)… Purifiers inherit blessings (Read Numbers 14:24)… Listen, if we are who God has called us to be, people will leave our presence feeling better.. They will want to be around us… The scent that attracts blessings will be present wherever we go. So………. Ask yourself…. Am I a Purifier or a Polluter?.. Talent, skill, and experience isn’t contagious.. Folks just can’t quickly pass them on… But attitude is contagious! What are you passing along?
