Not Going Back To Egypt

Now the mixed multitude who were among them yielded to intense craving; so the children of Israel also wept again and said: “We remember the fish which we ate freely in Egypt, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic Numbers 11:4-5

This is for the one who God has delivered from a bad place and because things aren’t sunshine and daisies, you may be questioning the journey that you are on…. When you are going through what feels like a wilderness experience, don’t make the mistake of “turning back to Egypt.” Instead, remember that God has something better for you ahead and keep pressing forward—regardless of the appeal of what lies behind you. For the Israelites, Egypt had offered an abundant supply of fish, leeks, and onions. There was no threat of starvation. However, Egypt was a place of bondage for God’s people. Viewed from the wilderness, Egypt seemed to have its good points. In truth, it was nothing compared to the freedom and abundance that lay ahead in the promised land. Israel had forgotten what it was like to be under bondage. They’d forgotten the misery of slavery. The many beat downs and the death and destruction of slavery.. How they were belittled and berated..They were deceived when they thought of the seemingly good things they’d left behind in Egypt. Listen, when you are going through a challenging time, don’t make the mistake of recalling your Egypt. God would not lead you away from something and have you walk through a desert just to lead you back from where you’d come. No, God leads you away because He has something so much better ahead. He has a place of great freedom and abundance waiting for you. Your peace is not in Egypt.. You won't find joy in Egypt..Forget Egypt! Remember what got you in Egypt.. Meditate on the promise of a good and spacious land flowing with milk and honey. Keep walking and stay focused. Trust God, and it won’t be long before you enter the good land He has prepared for you:

For the Lord your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, that flow out of valleys and hills … a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper. When you have eaten and are full, then you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land which He has given you” Deuteronomy 8:7, 9-10. .

Why is the LORD bringing us into this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become a prey. Would it not be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And they said to one another, “Let us choose a leader and go back to Egypt.. Numbers 14:3-4.

Most often, the first thing a drug dealer is tempted to do after being released from jail is to go back to slinging drugs. Due to their criminal background, they find it almost impossible to get a good job to provide for their families, so they go back to doing what they do best. Some women go back to dancing in strip clubs to feed their children. Some go back to the job they hated, to the man that cheated, beat on them, or stayed drunk but provided well, and the list goes on and on. No matter how desperate your financial status is right now, don’t go back to bondage. Slavery in Egypt seemed far better to the Israelites than having to rely on God in the wilderness. At their breaking point they preferred slavery and stability over freedom and uncertainty. You may be at your breaking point and are tempted to go back to the place God delivered you from because you see no other way, but hear the word of the Lord today: “There’s nothing for you in those old places where I delivered you. Don’t go back into bondage. Hold fast to My promise. If you hold on for a little while longer, I will make a way out of no way for you and your family. If you will obey Me and follow My ways, I will help you reach your place of promise. I will supply all your need according to My riches in glory in Christ Jesus. I am Jehovah-Jireh.. your provider and I will keep My promise to you.”

I dare someone to declare " I AM NOT GOING BACK TO EGYPT!"
